MT JOHN HOMESTEAD

Wedding venue, meeting place and retreat accommodation.

Originally built in 1911, The Mount John Homestead has recently been renovated and made available as a wonderful example of Tekapo accommodation for those passionate for the region and its history.

Many generations of stories have accumulated within the old walls of the homestead and there is room for many more.

Located on the outskirts of Tekapo village, the homestead has stood fast through many changes to the area, from the pioneering farmers of the early 1900's, right through to the current development of Lake Tekapo as a tourist destination.
Many generations of stories have accumulated within the old walls of the homestead and there is room for many more.
For this reason the availability of Mt John Homestead for accommodation or special events is only advertised privately. It is reserved for those who can appreciate one of the foundation stones in the building of the Tekapo community and leave the area feeling richer for having experienced it.

Beautiful exposed rimu floors are throughout the historic building.
An original collection of art by a local artist and an archive of local photos are displayed throughout the rooms.

The homestead is also available for special occasions such as weddings, family reunions and funeral wakes.
A minimum booking of 2 nights applies to accommodation use.
